SERHA Focuses Only on Men at a Health Fair

More than 20 men working in New Kingston and surrounding areas benefited from a free health fair on Friday, December 14, 2018.

The health fair, which took place at the Towers Building Parking Lot in New Kingston, was hosted by the South East Regional Health Authority (SERHA) in  collaboration with Sagicor Life Jamaica Limited, Heart Foundation of Jamaica, Sweet Energy Fitness Club, the National Health Fund and Optical Solutions International Limited. Throughout the day, medical practitioners from the HIV Department at SERHA and the Diabetes Association of Jamaica carried out several health tests including blood sugar, HIV, blood pressure and Body Mass Index (BMI).

In addition, free eye examinations were offered by Optical Solutions International Limited.

Men were also exposed to a number of activities including educational sessions in areas of condom use, maintaining good mental health and preventing chronic diseases.

Dance aerobic session was led by Sweet Energy Fitness Club. Also, the health fair ended with a domino tournament.

Regional Technical Director for SERHA, Dr. Dutris Bourne expressed sincerest appreciation to all the entities for partnering with SERHA to provide free health tests for men during this Christmas season.
