The Minister of Health and Wellness, Dr.the Hon. Christopher Tufton and His Worship the Mayor Councillor Norman Scott, Mayor of Spanish Town visited the Spanish Town Infirmary on Tuesday, May 15, 2019.
Social cases from the Spanish Town Hospital were transferred to the newly built wing at Spanish Town Infirmary. This will make way for more hospital bed spaces becoming available.
Dr. Tufton, explained that persons in the infirmary are abandoned and plans are being put in place to outsource other patients who are unable to fit in an infirmary to a private nursing hospital as apart of the strategies to free up social cases from the hospitals across the country.
The project is also a joint effort with the St. Catherine Municipal Corporation.
