The South East Regional Health Authority hosted two major activities to mark Breastfeeding Week which is observed September 20-26, 2016 this year.
A panel discussion was held at the Olympic Gardens Civic Centre in Kingston on Wednesday, September 21, 2016. The panellists consisted of four men, who shared their experiences as it relates to providing support for breastfeeding mothers. The audience was also given an opportunity to ask questions. In addition, a booth was set up to provide information about the benefits of breastfeeding among other things. In St. Catherine, a training was held at the Women’s Centre Foundation of Jamaica with goal of providing the skills for the young mothers to breastfeed optimally. There was also a quiz completion.
