Normal Operations have resumed at the Bustamante Hospital for Children. As at 2:00 p.m. today (March 24, 2016) the hospital began offering its complete set of services.
The hospital resorted to accepting only emergency cases for the past 24 hours because of industrial action taken by health records staff following an incident, which resulted in a health records clerk being seriously injured.
This morning Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Winston De La Haye met with the Hospital Management and Union Representatives to further discuss the concerns of the staff and to chart the way forward.
The management of the hospital is taking steps to address the concerns of the staff and to implement measures to further strengthen security systems at the Bustamante Hospital for Children.
The injured staff member has had a surgical procedure done and was discharged this afternoon from KPH.
