SERHA Provides Asthma Training for Teachers and Parents

The South East Regional Health Authority (SERHA) recently provided training for teachers and parents in Kingston and St. Andrew to empower them to better understand Asthma and manage asthmatic children.

The training which was spearheaded by the Kingston and St. Andrew Health Services targeted teachers from Rousseau and August Town Primary Schools, the Danny Williams School for the Deaf as well as parents from the Maxfield community.

The training focused on Asthma medication indications, side effects, delivery devices, inhalation techniques and asthma first said.

The parents and teachers were also guided in developing an Asthma action plan which is designed to assist them with effectively dealing with a child who has an Asthma attack.
