Our vision is to provide high quality and accessible rehabilitative services in Jamaica and the Caribbean that will enable individuals who were born with or acquire alteration of body functions to receive empowerment, so that they can live useful, satisfying and productive lives.
The Sir John Golding Rehabilitation Centre (SJGRC), formerly the Mona Rehabilitation Centre, was started in 1954 during the polio epidemic. The centre, which was founded by Sir John Golding, a British orthopaedic surgeon, served as the only centre in Jamaica and the English speaking Caribbean which catered to the rehabilitation of patients afflicted with polio.
