The Minister of Health and Wellness, Dr. the Hon. Christopher Tufton and His Worship the Mayor Councillor Norman Scott, Mayor of Spanish Town visited the Spanish Town Infirmary on Tuesday, May 15, 2019.
Social cases from the Spanish Town Hospital were transferred to the newly built wing at Spanish Town Infirmary. This will allow for more hospital bed spaces to become available.
Dr. Tufton explained that persons in the infirmary are abandoned and plans are being put in place to outsource private nursing hospitals to accommodate other patients. This is being done as part of the strategies to help reduce the social cases in hospitals across the country.
The project is a joint effort with the St. Catherine Municipal Corporation.
