Tour of the COVID-19 Hospital at St. Joseph's Hospital

On Thursday, February 11, 2021, the Minister of Health & Wellness (MOHW), Dr. the Hon. Christopher Tufton and other health officials from SERHA, toured the new COVID-19 Field Hospital at the St. Joseph’s Hospital that was constructed at a cost of approximately $65 million.

It has a bed capacity of 36 and an additional 21 beds spaces will be provided from the hospital to facilitate the treatment of persons with the novel coronavirus. The project was funded by the MOHW, Canadian High Commission.

Present at the tour were the Mayor of Kingston, His Worship Delroy Williams; Mr. Wentworth Charles, Board Chairman, SERHA; Mr. Julian Robinson, Member of Parliament, South Eastern St. Andrew; Mr. Dunstan Bryan, Permanent Secretary, MOHW; Dr. Sandra Chambers, Regional Technical Director, SERHA; Mrs. Sophia Moodie-Reid, Acting Regional Director, SERHA and other representatives.
