The Sagicor Sigma Corporate Run 2025 is set to raise funds to support three crucial Jamaican institutions: the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH), the Sir John Golding Rehabilitation Centre, and the Father Ho Lung & Friends Foundation. With a target of $115 million, all proceeds will go towards providing critical, life-changing support to Jamaica’s most vulnerable populations.
As Jamaica's largest public hospital, KPH is a cornerstone of healthcare for patients across the island. The funds raised will be allocated to the hospital's Intensive Care Unit (ICU), which serves critically ill patients. As one of only two public ICUs in Jamaica, KPH’s seven-bed facility often struggles with overwhelming demand, at times treating up to 10 critically ill patients simultaneously. This leads to makeshift bed setups and stretches the limits of the hospital's infrastructure and resources. Additionally, the ICU faces challenges with aging medical equipment and staffing shortages, underscoring the urgent need for investment.
The Sir John Golding Rehabilitation Centre provides essential care for individuals recovering from traumatic injuries, including motor vehicle accidents, gunshot wounds, strokes, and other disabilities. The centre also supports children with limb deformities and spinal cord injuries, helping more than 2,400 patients annually to regain their independence. As a 2025 beneficiary, the centre plans to use the funds to acquire vital physiotherapy equipment, which will accelerate patient recovery and enhance rehabilitation outcomes.
The race is scheduled to take place on Sunday, February 16, 2025.
