SERHA and Lasco Finalise Over USD $9 Million Contract for Laboratory Supplies and Equipment

KINGSTON, Jamaica. Thursday, August 29, 2024: A major contract was signed with

SERHA and Lasco Distributors Limited for the supply and delivery of laboratory supplies,

reagents, and (Coagulation and Immuno-Chemistry Analyzers) equipment for five (5)

institutions. The contract, valued at over USD$9 million, marks a major investment in

enhancing the capabilities and efficiency of healthcare services.

The new partnership aims to bolster SERHA’s ability to provide high-quality diagnostic and

analytical services, crucial for patient care and treatment. The Bustamante Hospital for

Children, Princess Margaret Hospital, Linstead Hospital, Spanish Town Hospital,and Kingston and St. Andrew Health Department are the recipients under the agreement.

During the contract signing on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, inside the corporate office, Mr.

Wentworth Charles, Board Chairman of SERHA, stated that he is thrilled that SERHA has

entered into this partnership with Lasco Distributors Limited. This investment represents a

significant step toward advancing our laboratory services and ensuring that our health facilities are equipped to deliver the highest standard of care. He added that the new equipment and supplies will also improve staff morale, creating a culture that fosters a good working environment.

Mrs. Hortense Edwards, General Manager of the Pharmaceutical Division at Lasco Distributors Limited, said that her team is honoured to support SERHA’s vital work through this contract.She also expressed that Lasco Distributors Limited is committed to delivering quality products and services that will contribute to better healthcare outcomes for the people of Jamaica.

The term of this agreement will begin on September 1, 2024, and will last for three years.
